How Artwork is Priced
Hello and greetings to you all. My name is Joanne Charlot.
I live in the Houston, Texas area. Recently I have been
attending a few arts & crafts shows around town. There
were a number of people of people complaining about the
price of some of the art work that was there. First of all I
would like to say that most of the time you do get what you
pay for. Sometimes you may find a valuable item that
you've obtained for practically nothing or little cost to you.
Please keep in mind that most of us look for something for
nothing and with this being the case, is one main reason
why so many of us get taken for a monetary ride, whereas
others rip us off of our hard earned money and we end up
with a bunch of junk. Most sales people will play on a
potential customers ignorance, and or emotional aspects
to cojole them into digging deep into their pockets. One
thing I would like to speak of hear is how to recognize
quality jewelry and the real difference between the term
costume, foe(fake), and real jewelry. Some may classify
anything that is not silver, gold, diamonds or rubies etc. to
be costume jewelry. This is far from the truth. In actuality
some precious stones are far more valuable than the
above mentioned. Just one thing before I continue, there is
no such thing as semi-precious stones. All stones are of
quality and precious. Those terms were gathered up in
order to confuse people more or less which ever word at
any given particular time would be of benefit to the person
or persons using them. Gold, silver and copper are the
three basic metals used for the conductivity of electricity.
Gold being the better than silver then copper. The use for
these three metals was originally used for science
purposes only. Then later on for adornment. It wasn't until
a short time ago in history  that people began to covet
these basic three substances, especially gold then silver.
Gold on the planet at one time was looked at like we today
look at grass. It was plentiful. The reason why gold is so
high is because of the demand of it. If no one paid
attention to it  and wanted it so bad then the illusion this
capitalists society has placed on it would disappear.
Copper is used in the conductivity of electricity because it
is cheaper to get a hold of. Diamonds are one of the
hardess minerals on earth. It's hardness registers at a 10
on the registering scale from 1 - 10. Stones are formed in
diverse manners. Some takes millions of years to form. I
don't say this to imply that gold, silver, diamonds, copper,
etc., are not valuable and pretty when it comes to
adornment, but only for the simple fact of helping to explain
why quality unique art and handcrafted jewelry cost what it
does. First of all in knowing how much a piece of beaded
handcrafted jewelry is worth is to consider the quality of the
bead. The rarity of the bead, how many beads are involved
and the type if any of the findings. Examine to see if the
piece is put together carefully enough to whereas if you tug
at it slightly will it come apart. Ans also can you find that
particular style and quality of jewelry elsewhere and for a
price that suits your lifestyle. Quality beads cost money,
and the work of the individual artists cost money. In so
many words, artwork is priced according to what it is worth.
It would take me many pages to go into great detail about
it, which I can only suggest that anyone interested in more
information on how artwork is priced to contact
