JOANNE'S GALLERY
Hello, and welcome to my
gallery of art work. I would
first of all like to speak a
little on some of the
reasons art work is priced
the way it is. Say for
instance you have a small
16"/20" oil painting that
has a price tag on it for
$2,500. You may wonder
why in the world would
something so small be
priced as much. Well, you
have to first of all take into
consideration the quality of
the medium being painting
on. A regular simple
canvas could run you any
where from $1.00 - $10.00.
The material involved in
this canvas is usually of a
low grade cotton. Higher
grades cost more money
and last longer. A low
quality cotton grade
painting no matter how
beautiful is really worth
nothing because it is easily
worn down and won't last
for at least a hundred years
or more like higher quality
cotton or mediums would.
The above mentioned
painting could be of quality
cotton or medium and artist
quality paints. The brushes
used to paint the picture
could be of high quality.
All of these things need to
be taken into consideration.
Cheap materials produce
cheap quality. Good
brushes could run the
average painter any where
from $5.00 - $300.00 per
brush. Quality oil paints
could run anywhere from
$50.00 - $1,000 for all the
colors needed. These are
only the basics. Other
materials needed are boiled
linseed oil, turpentine, lots
of glass jars, paint splatter,
extra gesso, gloss varnish,
sealer, beeswax, egg oil,
clove powder or oil, alum,
acrylic paints, water,
mineral oil, oil soap, and
soap. These are only a few
items involved in the
painting process. Now you
have some artists that just
throw any ole thang
together. Just remember,
you get what you pay for. It
is helpful to do some
careful study on how to
recognize quality art work
when you see it. Another
thing to take into
consideration when dealing
with paintings is to look for
the rarity of the colors
used. Royal Egyptian Blue
is one of the hardest colors
to replicate today. It is my
understanding that there is
no such thing as ugly art. I
guess you could say that
since when not painting an
exact portrait of something,
everything else is a part of
the artist soul expressing
itself. There are other
mediums to be painted
upon like diverse types of
wood, linen, Irish linen, and
jute only to name a few.
One thing to remember
about oil paintings, they are
never to be framed in glass
or plastic covered frames.
Oil paintings need to breed.
Doing the above mentioned
destroys them. Water
colored paintings can be
framed, also, charcoal,
pastel, ink, pencil, and
markers. Paintings are also
priced according to the
number of copies painted
and amount of prints made.
The fewer the copies that
are painted and printed, the
more valuable the painting
is. If a painting is only one
of a kind then it is very
valuable.

certain works of art, usually supply their own materials. I charge them for
my labor. However, not all of my art work is priced at a certain level, but
all in the same time, is still of quality. In the mean time there will be give
aways of art work here. All you have to do from time to time when ever it

This is an oil painting title Summer Time in Miami.
It was done using much pickling effects. It's a one
and only original and is part of my personal
collection.
This is another oil painting which is a favorite of mine. Notice the Black baby
butterfly sleeping on one of the leaves. This is another part of my personal
collection. This one is so complicated to me that it can't be duplicated so far as
painting it over again is concerned. Only a limited edition of copies of it can be
made.
This is an oil painting using much pickling effects. The pictures that are
shown here doesn't really do the paintings any justice. In order to
behold their true beauty, they must be seen in person.
